Hospital blanket

Hospital blanket

The disposable self-heating blanket, certified as a medical device, intended for use in healthcare settings.

Medical device, disposable self-heating for temperature management, intended for use in healthcare, with particular reference to pre, intra, and post-operative phases, to effectively manage patients’ normothermia and thermal comfort.

The blanket is designed in three different solutions to ensure maximum adaptability in different contexts and situations:

  1. Full body – covers the patient entirely with an anatomical model that fits perfectly around the neck and arms;
  2. Full body 2 parts – a two-piece solution that covers the entire body, allowing the choice of which areas to cover and which to leave uncovered;
  3. Full body 4 parts – a four-piece solution that offers maximum flexibility of use with practical Velcro straps.

Thanks to its innovative formula, it requires no preparation or pre-installation: with its latest generation Warmer Patches, the device will activate upon contact with ambient air, reaching 40°C and maintaining it for at least 18 hours.

Its advantages:

  • The vacuum-sealed packaging is compact and small, allowing for extreme convenience in transport and storage;
  • The product avoids any noise and contains no electrical resistance to eliminate potential risks of electric injuries and electromagnetic interference with electromedical equipment.
  • The self-heating system does not involve air circulation, absolutely preventing any risk of contamination of the ambient air and, consequently, potential infections.

    Maintaining normothermia is an added value to patient care. Every phase of hospitalization, from pre to post-surgery, requires continuous monitoring regarding the risk of unexpected hypothermia.

    The patient’s body temperature fluctuates between 36.0°C and 37.5°C: a small deviation could lead to complications during various stages of hospitalization, particularly in the intraoperative period, which is associated with a higher risk of surgical wound infection.

    The proactive temperature management achieved with the help of the WBS Hospital Blanket allows for maintaining the patient’s normothermia throughout their perioperative journey:

    1. During the pre-operative phase, it adds warmth to the patient’s body, helping prevent hypothermia during the surgical phase and avoiding the risk of post-operative shivering;
    2. During the intraoperative phase, thanks to its self-heating system without air circulation, it absolutely prevents any risk of contamination. Moreover, considering the temperature drop of about 1.5°C caused by anesthesia, the device will prevent the risk of perioperative hypothermia;
    3. During the post-operative phase, it prevents hypothermia and vasoconstriction that may follow the surgical intervention. Additionally, the risk of wound infection will be reduced, aiding in the healing process.
